Water is the most essential and basic raw material in production for the food and beverage industries. It is also a vital resource in livestock raising, meat processing, feedmill/flour processing, glass and packaging products manufacturing, as well as in the pharmaceutical and electronics industry.

The cost of having the operations of a major facility being interrupted or closed because of water availability and quality problems could translate into losses from several millions up to several billions of Philippine pesos. Therefore, at the outset, it is essential that the acquisition of new project sites with water supply quantity and quality problems that are impracticable to solve, should be prevented. This can be done by conducting hydrogeological studies in areas where new projects are to be located.
